Title: NY Blood Flower 2005 Since I was a child I have been fascinated with the oxidation process. From the vibrant luscious red of a fresh rose that turns into the deep burgundy color in its remaining days. Then it just fades into black. The similarities of the oxidized blood were just so brilliant to me there almost one in the same. Red is life and pink is healing. I experimented with using metallic pigments with acrylic in the pink brush strokes. As a result the painting seems to come to life in different light exposures.
